Superbowl Snack Throwdown – Week 6

It’s a rainy weekend here in New England and we even got some snow! But this kind of weather is perfect for getting comfortable on the couch with some football on the TV and snacks on the table. It’s time again to review Highlowaha’s Super Bowl Snack Throwdown recipes from Kate and Lauren. This week’s secret ingredient is asparagus! As a reminder, recipes are to be judged on the following criterion: Creative use of the ingredient, most likely to be eaten first, best photograph, and reproducibility. So now, on to the recipes (be sure to click through to check out the entire recipes).

Kate made Asparagus Wrap Ups.

Lauren made Frittata Bites.

I love asparagus, so I was excited to review these two recipes. I’ve enjoyed asparagus in both of these forms and I can vouch that they’re both great ideas! I think both of these recipes would go quickly at a football gathering. The frittata might be more appropriate for morning games like in college football, but they would both go quickly.

I think it’s a wash as far as creativity goes again this week. And I think reproducibility is also a wash. Both of these recipes look pretty simple to put together and I’m confident a cook of any level could master either of these recipes.

Once again, it comes down to the photograph to be the deciding factor. I definitely have to commend Kate in her improvement in food photography in the past few weeks. But once again, I feel that Lauren’s photograph could be found in a food magazine. Great work Lauren!

Congratulations Lauren! I can’t wait to see what you and Kate come up with next week!!

I’ve placed my vote, now it’s time for you to cast yours! Be sure to go to Highlowaha to vote for your favorite of these two recipes.
