Superbowl Snack Throwdown – Week 11

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Hubby and I traveled to his mom’s house and ate way too much food. I have to admit that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays simply because of the food. However, Hubby’s family doesn’t have the same foods at their Thanksgiving feast that I grew up loving, so we’re going to be making our own mini-Thanksgiving meal tonight for dinner. That way we’ll have leftovers to enjoy all week long, and as far as I’m concerned, the leftovers are one of the best parts of Thanksgiving.

Another great Thanksgiving tradition is lying on the couch after the big meal watching football. I have to admit I was too tired to watch any football this Thanksgiving, but I know Hubby enjoyed a few games between naps.

And since it’s Sunday, it’s time to review Highlowaha’s Super Bowl Snack Throwdown recipes from Kate and Lauren. This week’s secret ingredient is wine! As a reminder, recipes are to be judged on the following criterion: Creative use of the ingredient, most likely to be eaten first, best photograph, and reproducibility. So now, on to the recipes (be sure to click through to check out the entire recipes).

Kate made “Wine” Receiver Fondue.

Lauren made Zinfandal Cranberry Sauce.

I’m going to start this week with photography. Kate’s first fondue picture makes me want to go make fondue for dinner tonight! It looks so ooey and gooey and delicious!

When it comes to reproducibility, the cranberry sauce recipe from Lauren definitely looks quite simple. I think anyone could make the delicious Thanksgiving side dish.

Now on to creative use of ingredient. I always struggle with this category, because what is creative to one person might not seem creative to another person. To me personally, I’ve never made cranberry sauce or fondue so I am not sure if putting wine in either is very creative or not. So I have to call this category a tie.

Last but not least, is most likely to be eaten first. This one hands down goes to Kate. I know Thanksgiving and football go hand in hand, but in general, something as fun as fondue would disappear quickly at any get together. Everyone loves dipping a choice of bread and veggies into some warm melted cheese!

Congratulations Kate! I can’t wait to see what you and Lauren come up with next week!!

I’ve placed my vote, now it’s time for you to cast yours! Be sure to go to Highlowaha to vote for your favorite of these two recipes.

Thank you so much for your kind words and constructive criticism. I just started reading your reviews this past week because I wasn’t aware you were doing such an elaborate write up about them. I didn’t realize photography was important in your decision! My hubby brought our super awesome camera home from work and helped me get some pictures this week, and obviously it paid off. My photography skills don’t go much past trying to catch my toddlers doing something funny before they STOP doing it. Thanks for your vote this week and I look forward to your upcoming reviews!!!!

Both of these recipes looked amazing, but I agree with the selection. The pumpkin footballs were my pick, too. I love pumpkin, and these little footballs look really tasty.

    Good job, Kate.
